Mary Scott Hardwick joined Thorn Run in March of 2018, specializing in representing local governments from across the country. Ms. Hardwick provides analysis and advocacy on a variety of issue areas; including transportation, water infrastructure, public safety needs, regulatory matters, economic development, natural resources, and flood control. She analyzes and monitors legislation and regulatory actions to develop engagement strategies.
Prior to joining Thorn Run, Ms. Hardwick spent a year as a Manager of Government Relations at Van Scoyoc Associates, representing over a dozen local government entities. Before joining Van Scoyoc, she spent five years working for Pinellas County, Florida. In that role, she managed intergovernmental affairs between the county and the municipal, state, and federal governments. She also assisted with grants administration and community relations and outreach. Ms. Hardwick brings a unique perspective to representing local governments. Her understanding and first-hand experience allows her to effectively articulate their needs and identify opportunities or challenges.
Ms. Hardwick has also managed electoral and issue based campaigns in Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Florida. For those campaign, she was responsible for developing and implementing campaign strategy, crafting messaging, coordinating voter outreach, and engaging with community organizations.
Ms. Hardwick grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She currently resides in Washington, D.C.
