With Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospitals (DSH) scheduled to take a big reimbursement hit under the Affordable Care Act, TRP worked with a variety of clients to develop and execute a delay strategy in order to avoid the budgetary axe.
Leveraging client concentrations in strategically located regions, we mobilized an array of stakeholder advocacy to Congress and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Through intense engagement with the Obama Administration, both at the political and career levels, we helped our clients lead the charge to advance a strong policy rationale for their position and secure language in White House budget requests calling for a DSH cut delay.
And in enacting a strategy to slay the budget cuts ahead of an imminent firestorm, TRP successfully worked to include a delay of the provision in the final measure, sparing DSH hospitals untenable cuts, securing an unqualified victory for our clients, and taking satisfaction in advancing sound public policy.
