For a charity dedicated to supporting people with expensive chronic illnesses, a federal regulatory proposal threatened to dismantle the ability for nonprofits to provide single-source drugs to the patients who needed them.

On behalf of our nonprofit client, TRP rallied all of the stakeholders who would be affected by the proposal and turned their concerns into tangible action. Through an aggressive letter-writing campaign to Members of Congress and direct meetings with the relevant regulators, policymakers saw the broader blueprint on how their proposal could hurt patients.

With a clearer understanding of the different interests in the proposal, regulators were able to build a compromise that mandated additional patient services, while ensuring that single-source drugs could be provided for the patients who need them. In other words, the government secured its objective and the nonprofit retained its unparalleled ability to help those battling chronic conditions – a comprehensive victory for all parties involved.
