Jason brings over 15 years of experience in government relations, with a proven track record of successfully navigating the legislative and political process in both the public and private sectors. He is frequently quoted in major news publications.

Prior to joining Thorn Run, Jason was the Director of Government Relations at ML Strategies, the lobbying arm of the Mintz Levin law firm. While there, he served as the head of the firm’s financial services practice and worked with clients in a variety of segments of the industry, including asset management, payment services and personal lending. In this role he was instrumental in assisting a client achieve the sole statutory exemption from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) during Congress’ consideration of Dodd-Frank. Jason was also a key member of the firm’s Telecom and Energy practices groups.

Immediately before joining ML Strategies, Jason was an associate in the DC office Paul Hastings, an international law firm. While at the firm, he created, organized, and successfully managed the FACTA Reform Coalition, successfully securing the unanimous support of Congress to retroactively eliminate frivolous lawsuits related to information retailers included on credit or debit card receipts. In addition to these, and other lobbying success, Jason also counseled clients in their interactions with the Federal Communications Commission (“FCC”), as well as offered guidance for obtaining compliance with the Federal Election Commission, and the Lobbying Disclosure Act.

From 2000 to 2007, served as Legislative Counsel for Congressman Tom Lantos (D-CA), the former Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, where he was responsible for a variety of legislative and policy issues, both international and domestic.

Jason earned his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. from Union College (NY). He is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Connecticut Law School. A native of Massachusetts, Jason has also been involved in a variety of political campaigns in his home state, as well as in California, New York, and New Hampshire.
