Thorn Run Partners (TRP) announced today the addition of Jacky Usyk as Senior Vice President in their Washington, DC office. For nearly a dozen years, Jacky has served as a key member of senior Democratic leadership teams where she’s helped to drive passage of impactful legislation.
As Director of Leadership Operations for Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), she spent hours on the Senate floor coordinating Senate debate and streamlining information flow among Democratic leadership offices and throughout the entire Democratic Caucus. Jacky was a key member of the senior leadership team during passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, the American Rescue Plan, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, United States Innovation and Competition Act of 2021 (USICA), and debates over the Affordable Care Act and Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
Prior to leading Senator Murray’s leadership office, Jacky worked for then-Caucus Leadership Representative Tony Cárdenas (D-CA) from 2013 – 2019. As Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director, she was the chief advisor for the Congressman’s work on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and in House Democratic leadership, and coordinated legislative strategy and district, state, and national messaging.
Jacky also served for Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) handling issues related to the Senator’s role on the Senate Agriculture Committee, where she worked on the 2011 Farm Bill reauthorization, securing provisions within the Emergency Food Assistance Program, and Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21).
Prior to working in Congress, Jacky worked as a researcher in biomedical sciences. After her stint in the science lab, she redirected her natural curiosity and love of learning toward public service. With this unique collection of experiences, she is looking forward to translating and distilling the intricacies of federal government advocacy for TRP clients who are looking for a creative approach to achieving their legislative priorities.
