Thorn Run Partners (TRP) (www.thornrun.com) announced today the elevation of Shea McCarthy to Partner in their Washington, DC office. Mr. McCarthy, the firm’s 24th partner, has previously served as Senior Vice President at the firm.
McCarthy has been with Thorn Run Partners since its earliest days following a stint on Capitol Hill working for then-Congressman Cory Gardner (R-CO). As the firm’s very first employee in 2010, McCarthy has played a major part in every aspect of the firm’s development and ascension into one of largest and highest ranked government relations firms in the city.
A DC-area native who graduated from Gonzaga High School before attending Notre Dame University, McCarthy has built a strong reputation at Thorn Run Partners as a respected lobbyist, health policy analyst, and communications expert who represents some of the firm’s most treasured clients.
Over the span of his career, McCarthy has specialized in the intricacies of health policy and established himself as a highly respected member and thought leader within the federal health policy community, including as an “on-the-record” analyst who’s often featured in leading national and inside-the-Beltway publications such as Business Insider, STAT News, Inside Health Policy, Modern Healthcare, Morning Consult, and RealClearHealth, as well as through leadership roles, including the Board of Directors for the Society of Health Policy Young Professionals. Many of Thorn Run’s clients rely on McCarthy for his knowledge and strategic insights into Medicare coverage policy.
McCarthy is also a key leader within Thorn Run’s strategic communications practice called TRP Engage, where his close ties to the DC press corps and fluency with digital media strategies and tactics have enabled him to function as a uniquely effective stakeholder coalition leader, media strategist, and grass-tops campaign coordinator.
As part of his role as Partner, McCarthy will maintain his current duties as lead coordinator of the firm’s multidisciplinary policy team.
