TRP Financial Services Report

Like all good things, this two week recess has come to an end.  Congress returns and with tax day cometh, the House is set to take up a series of financial services and tax bills.  In order to help you plan your week, we wanted to share a few of the key items on tap for next week.

Looking Ahead 

  • The Senate is expected to take up the SGR fix bill.
  • The House will take up the following bills on the Suspension Calendar on Tuesday and Wednesday:
  1. H.R. 299 – Capital Access for Small Community Financial Institutions Act of 2015 (Rep. Stivers – Financial Services)
  2. H.R. 1259 – Helping Expand Lending Practices in Rural Communities Act (Rep. Barr – Financial Services)
  3. H.R. 1265 – Bureau Advisory Commission Transparency Act (Rep. Duffy – Financial Services)

On Wednesday, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government will hold a budget hearing on the Securities and Exchange Commission at 10:00 AM in 2359 Rayburn.  SEC Chair Mary Jo White is scheduled to testify.
 
On Wednesday, the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Monetary Policy and Trade and the Oversight and Government Reform's Subcommittee on Health Care, Benefits and Administrative Rules will hold a joint hearing entitled, “Oversight of Efforts to Reform the Export-Import Bank of the United States,” at 10:00 AM in 2154 Rayburn.
 
On Wednesday, the House Small Business Committee will hold a hearing entitled, “Tax Reform: Ensuring that Main Street Isn't Left Behind,” at 11:00 am in 2360 Rayburn.
 
On Wednesday, the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit will hold a hearing entitled “Examining Regulatory Burdens on Non-Depository Financial Institutions,” at 1:00 PM in 2175 Rayburn.
 
On Thursday, the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing Insurance will hold a hearing entitled, “The Future of Housing in America: Increasing Private Sector Participation in Affordable Housing,” at 9:15 AM in 2175 Rayburn.
 
On Thursday, the Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing entitiled, “Regulatory Burdens to Obtaining Mortgage Credit” at 10am in 538 Dirksen
