Standing on a stage in Mexico City – at a lectern alongside Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto – Trump’s usually fiery rhetoric was shelved for a more tempered tone. He called the Mexicans friends while also detailing the American interest in securing the nations’ border and stopping drug trafficking.
